High Altar, Sacred Heart
High Altar, Sacred Heart Church, Lancashire
The design for the sanctuary at the Sacred Heart Church picked up the themes established in the existing altar and tabernacle table. The rear wall picking up the radial lines from the base of the tabernacle table becomes an expression of rays in yellows, greens and golds. A baldachino designed as an open lattice to house the lighting is hung over the high altar and extends to the rear to also cover the tabernacle area. The crucifix hangs from the balachino but is designed to be removed during the pre-Easter services.
