The Qualities of Humane Architecture

The client's needs both functionally and financially form the basis of our designs.
Natural light and nature are invited into the heart of a scheme to animate a building and bring life and vitality to its spaces.
We like to utilise natural energy systems and high levels of insulation when within the client's budget, to reduce the buildings carbon footprint and increase the ecology of the scheme.
Buildings are designed to be responsive to the sites and contexts in which they sit. We work hard to ensure that a scheme adopts an appropriate and natural posture within its environment.
Materials are selected not only for their benign ecological characteristics but also for their sensual qualities. Natural materials are used where possible to create an appropriate atmosphere for the building in question.
Great care is taken to ensure that good proportions are used in our buildings and that the various parts of a building are related to each other in an harmonious and coherent way.
Generally speaking Humane Buildings are good to be in; they have a good ambiance, they are good to touch; they are responsive to the human body and are made of wholesome non-toxic materials.

We all know that bad environments make us feel bad, equally great buildings can lift our spirits, create a feeling of well being and good health and generally have a therapeutic effect on all who come into contact with the building.
